Technical Inspection

OVR requires that all students have their car inspected by a qualified person prior to OVR's technical inspection at the track. The participant is responsible for the safety of their vehicle. Neither the tech inspector, the event chairman and committee, nor OVR will be held liable for the safety of this vehicle. Have a qualified person check over your car and make certain everything on technical inspection list will pass OVR's inspection.

There are many qualified Porsche mechanics in the area that perform the service for a fee. You need a 2nd pair of eyes going over your car before you go to the track in order to correct any item before it becomes a problem on the track. The technical inspection will put your mind at rest. The OVR Technical Inspection Form can be downloaded by clicking on Registration Packet. Print a copy of the OVR form and have a qualified person check all the items on the form. Sign and date the form and bring it with you to the event.

The OVR Technical Inspection is at the Headquarters Motel on Friday, April 18th, from 6 – 8:30 PM. You must have your car inspected before going to Registration.

First Time at the Mid-Ohio Track

First-time drivers have little or no experience on a track. It is normal to feel nervous the first time you drive your car on the track. It is also normal to think about your safety and your car. You will be assigned your own Instructor. Classroom instruction is mandatory as it compliments what the Instructor will be teaching you in your car. The typical daily schedule is four sessions on the track. High speed driving on the track requires 100 per-cent concentration.

This is a driving school and not a racing school. You will learn how to drive your Porsche under track conditions. You will learn high speed driving skills under the supervision of the area’s most knowledgeable instructors.

The Mid-Ohio track is 2.4 miles long. To see a map of the Mid-Ohio track, click on the Mid-Ohio Track Map. It has 16 turns. The track will challenge your driving ability. Some turns are high-speed sweepers where the turn-in entry point is exact; not too early else you will run out of road. You will learn that late turn-ins are safer. Some turns are blind where you cannot see where the road is heading. You will learn to trust your instincts that the road will continue. Some turns are off camber, meaning that the car enters the turn on the low side of the track and you have to steer toward the high side of the track to complete the turn. You will feel the g-forces in most all of the turns. At the end of the day you will be mentally tired. Hopefully, you will have a smile on your face. When the weekend is over, the tales of your driving experience will be told many times. The addiction begins!
